Text: Ephesians 4:17-29
The Old Man: v 17-22
1. What is the old man?
- The old man seeks the ways of this world.
- The old man is ignorant toward God's word
- The old man seeks his own ways.
2. Who is the old man?
A. The unbeliever? Yes
1. He seeks his own ways
2. He denies or refuses to acknowledge God's existence and power.
3. He seeks his own pleasure.
B. The Believer? Yes.
1. When he has fallen prey to the ways of this world.
Even if it is only one small thing he has still fallen.
2. When he forgets or ignores God and His word.
3. When he seeks his own pleasure.
The New Man: v 23-29
1. What is the new man?
A. The new man puts away the ways of this world.
B. The new man knows God's word an follows it.
C. The new man is renewed in the spirit. v.23
D. The new man puts others before himself and God before all else.
C. The new man seeks and follows God's way.
How do we put off the Old and put on the New?
1. Know God and believe in His word.
2. Examine ourselves and acknowledge our sins.
3. Repent of our sins.
4. Change our ways from the paths that lead us to sin.
5. Start and end every day in prayer to God. Spend time with Him
throughout
the day. "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things
which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set you minds on things
above,
not on things of this earth" .Col.3:1-2
